Virtual Patient Experience
The BioMojo Virtual Patient Experience (VPE) is an interactive, multiplayer 3D health and medicine themed, STEM science education product for grades 6 through 12. This game is driven by patient story lines, scenario narratives and virtual patients that include dynamic biomathematical physiology models to drive interactivity, exploration, discovery, and decision making. The game was funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS).
The game focuses on patient care delivery in near future (+10 years), 3D medically accurate environments using standard clinical workflows. Players develop and ‘level up’ their game character attributes as they spend more time navigating through each episodic game module.
Ultimately, this game will inspire and educate youth towards careers in healthcare, clinical research, and biomedical engineering through challenging in-game virtual role play, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. Players will learn foundational medical knowledge as well as topics for virtual patient education and behavior modification such as common injuries, preventable chronic diseases, lifestyle habits, physiology, anatomy, genomics, pathophysiology, pharmacotherapy, and cognition.
